With LOVE - 2

27 Aug 2018

I love you too, Babulu” her reply heard like a spell.

I retrieved my hands, now I could feel the presence of people around us—who vanished till then. Though I retrieved, I caught hold of her hand—firm, I couldn’t take eyes off her, as she unfastened the strands of hair tangled around her ear rings with her left hand—her right clutched in mine.

Still holding hand, we turned around towards the gate, we could see two girls waving at us. They are Pappy’s friends, when we stood in front of them for a chat, I felt like they are eating this valuable time that I should spend with her.

“We know that you are coming today, but didn’t expect you at our college” one of them spoke.

I am just blank; how did they know? I flipped at Pappy, she stood silent with a grin.

“She told us today, in the morning” the second one answered. I tittered.

Later she pulled out her black activa from the stand, we are on the road. We both combinedly differ with the cake cutting ritual—eating just two slices and throwing out the left. Every time we met, we always have biryani at our favorite restaurant, for which we travel about 5 km away from the city, floating in the cool air that flew over us from the fields around, the evening sun made it more beautiful.

Her hair played on my face, I just closed my eyes while she is driving, I could sense each strand of her hair touching my face. She continued to talk but, I kept silent—still feeling her hair, she nudged me to talk to her, watching me in the mirror.

She is not a great fan of biryani, but she never said no—as I liked it the most, she fed me her first spoonful and my first to her. We talked about each and every thing that we missed to talk in last one month, we regretted about the fight and promised to never repeat it again—as usual.

Parked and walked along the empty road of the mini Tank bund, the cool breeze and her giggling talks made me forget time of the return train. I didn’t bother about the night stay, about now—I wish that the present should stay still forever. The charming smile, unstrained eyes, her loving words, childish acts tied me. Somewhere inside I promised myself that I should never ever fight with her again.

The clock ticked 9:30, no trains available to my city, only the bus service. She took permission at home till 8, but she stayed till now, I asked her to go home and I would board a bus to my place. But she wanted to drop me to the bus, she drove me to the bus stand and I am about turn back to the bus.

I noticed some difference in her face, she is trying to smile hard, but her face became red, lower lip pressed under her teeth, she tried hard to give a broad smile, but drops of tears rushed on to her cheeks, her eyes filled with red nerves, tears flown faster and thicker, she tried to maintain that broad smile on her face. My heart became heavy and sank, melted in her tears. ‘Why did you come? If you didn’t, she would have not cried’ my brain said to me.

She tried to smile hard because she didn’t want to make me sad at the end a happy day, but her tears revealed—how much she missed me. I wiped off her tears, promised my frequent visits to her and took a promise that she would never cry. I continued to watch her, as she took a U-turn and left my sight, the first tear of the day slid off my eye.

I miss you!!
