2020 - Part 1

It has been ten days, that I decided to write a new blog. The things happening around me resisted me from concentrating. The time is running quickly, with the tragic incidents happening around the world. This is the year, in which I created a platform on blogger, I praised myself for doing that. But this is the only good thing that happened this year for me. And rest happening in this world is tragic. The minor earthquakes happened in a few parts of the world. Chemical leaks from the factories, heavy rains—flooding cities. Draughts—people dying. Tornadoes. Crises. Wildfires. Aftermath of Corona discovery in China. What not? Everything that could happen throughout a lifetime, is happening this year.

The talks on social media about the end of human life in the year 2020. I, a bit overthinker, believed that seeing everything happening around.

“Today somehow, I have to complete half part of my next blog,” I said to myself. I sat on the study chair in the front room, which is the calm and best place. It’s my fifth month away from my parents, due to lockdown. My room filled with silence; I closed my eyes to think about a scene that I am about to write.

Something is distracting me, the sound of the air from outside, heard like played on the woofer. I skipped the noise, trying to concentrate. I am successful, I could feel my scene. But, a loud bang made by the window, brought everything back to normal.

The window continued to flicker against the wall. That wooden windows may break if I don’t latch them.

I got on my feet and turned towards the window. Just two steps placed me in front of the window. The noise of the air, increased. I peeped out of the window. The fast-flowing air, made the dry sand on the cement road to raise and fall. The dry leaves washed away in that blow.

Air was cool, which made me stand there. I could see no one, just the bikes, and cars parked along the roadside. I placed a stopper at the window and stood there enjoying. I felt a few drops of water fell on my face. Firstly, it drizzled and then it started to rain. The amount of water falling through the window, increased. I have to move from there, but I was tied by the cool breeze coming in, I liked the drops of water falling on me brought by the wind.

I turned on my phone to scroll Instagram, keeping my back to the window. Many posts were coming as a thread, but the post about 2020—the ending, dragged my attention. There was a post, which displayed the green and blue image of the earth in the background. And a question was written over it in white bold letters. ‘Is 2020 the final year for human life?’. I moved on to the comment section, before I could concentrate on a large typed comment, I heard a huge sound from behind. I turned and looked out. That was the sound from the transformer, which is at end of the road. The sparks coming out from the top of the transformer portraited a movie scene. Something created a resemblance between the post I saw a minute before and the sparks. The only question raised in my mind, “Is this world going to end.”

I hated the cool breeze from then, I shut the windows tight. I walked back to the chair, before I sat back in my chair, the only light in the room, went off. I felt like these are a series of events happening in connection with each other. Though the sound of sparks from the transformer is gone, the thunder roar began. The sound of the raindrops hitting the ground increased, the thunders are so loud like never before.

Turning on the flashlight on the phone, I moved on to the single cot adjacent to the left wall of the room. I leaned on to the cushion and turned off the flash. My mind was full of thoughts about the weird behavior of nature. The rain is untimely, the thunders are so strong, the wind is too heavy, resembling a cyclone. Is something happening outside? Are the cracks forming on the ground? Are trees falling into the narrow gaps between the roads? Am I going to end in this dark room?

I opened my eyes to the thunder sound, then came light through the ventilator, which revealed a shadow resembling a human structure—just beside my chair and disappeared with the thunder light. Then came another thunder, whose sound is now blurred behind my thoughts about the shadow appeared. Later,  the shadow appeared in the next two lights of the thunder too. Am I hallucinating? Is what I saw till now is unreal?
